Mission Name:  Imperfection

Author: @voporak

Faction: Fed

The destruction of the Borg by the powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants produced tremendous amounts of information – including the mission logs of the U.S.S. Resistance, a ship lost just before the Borg invasion. As the savior of the galaxy, you have been chosen to explore the holographic recreation of the vessel’s final voyage to uncover the backstory behind the Borg’s quest for Perfection.

This mission is a collaboration between myself and Ashkrik23, the Foundry Newscat, or better known as my Frenemy. It is a prequel to Perfection, Part 1 and Part 2, designed to be played after both. Mission banner:

Warning, spoilers to Perfection, Part 1 and Part 2 ahead. You’ve now been warned!

[Intro] Gonna break this to you now, I make missions really fast when I’m inspired and really slowly when I’m not (I’m looking at the still unfinished Epohh’s Day). Last Monday, exactly one week ago, I concocted the idea to do a prequel to Ashkrik’s Perfection, a very successful 2-part series (despite being hit by some troll ratings) that then formed Scars of the Pride. The foundry was down at the time, so I couldn’t make it yet but when it came back up it only took me three days of work to create the entire mission (I was gone for a couple days). I had been thinking about doing a collab with Ash for a while, and this finally gave me the opportunity. I wanted to twist the darker elements of my own foundry series (namely Of Terror and Darkness) into Perfection, and then a week later out sprung this concoction from Borg hell. [/Intro]

In Perfection, a lot of the background story for the Borg’s motivations wasn’t included – it wasn’t important to the story, the objective was simply to defeat the threat at  hand. In Imperfection (an epic name twist I know), you run a holodeck simulation of the U.S.S. Resistance and her crew, which sheds light on the unanswered plot pre-threads. The first map sets you up with the crossover of the century, which launches you into the program and into the seat of Captain Rydiok. You probably won’t find out much that wasn’t already in Perfection, but you find out why. The mission is stuffed to the brim with optionals, which are obviously optional but give more depth to the whole experience by allowing you to explore the place yourself.

A note about the space map… I didn’t actually create it for this mission. Probably around 1.5 years ago I made it for something entirely different, a mission scrap long destroyed. I kept the Borg facility because it was so cool and finally got to use it for something. In fact, it made for the perfect spot to set the mission in and ended up working out better than the space map idea I had in my head.

Oh, one last thing.

Frenemy Cinematic Universe.

Nuff said.
