Short editorial:  This week’s spotlight goes to a Cryptic dev who took time to make a great Foundry mission.

We at SBUGC congratulate the mission.

Also, we really hope that H20rat gets well soon.  He is fighting mouth cancer.

I would like to encourage all Foundry authors and players to give more than a dilithium tip for his spotlight.  Please make a donation here.

This week on Foundry Files, we cover the week’s foundry news, and then we sit down with Community Manager BranFlakes to discuss his involvement in all things Foundry!

Welcome to the Foundry Roundtable, a weekly podcast dedicated to Foundry missions, mission building and other UGC issues starring Foundry authors Drogyn1701, Markhawkman, Hippiejohn and Greendragoon. Our guest this week is Skydawn.

In Episode 9 we discuss tropes, what we envision for the Romulan Foundry, using minor canon events and more.

Listen to it here and here:

Missions discussed:
In the Shadow of Midas Part 1 – by greendragoon
General Rebellion – by CaptPFDennis
Captain Revo’s five-part mission series (Begins with Worst of All Worlds)
Operation Demon Storm – by Eurrsk (greedragoon got the mission name slightly wrong)

Other notes:

We do actually have an answer now on the Foundry for Romulans, it came out the day after we recorded. Essentially we will be able to make exclusive missions for Romulans, but not at launch. For a while they’ll be limited to Fed or KDF mission listings.

In this thread, dstahl gave us this update on Foundry updates (or the lack thereof) concerning the Romulan faction:

At launch, Romulans will not be able to play Foundry missions until they choose an ally, and then they can only play Foundry missions created for that Ally. As many have suggested, we will be adding a new filter that will allow Foundry authors to create Romulan specific missions that only Romulans (allied with* either faction) can fly and team together for. No ETA has been provided at this point.

So, if a Romulan wants to play a Foundry mission, they need to borrow a Fed or KDF mission from an ally. No ETA on when that will change.

A new “Choose My Adventure” series at Massively led Eliot Lefebvre to explore two Foundry missions.  In this case, he played Galactrix’s “The Syndicate Extraction” and RogueEnterprise’s “First Cause, Then Effect.”  Check out his article here, and leave some feedback.

Personally, I’m disappointed that readers voted to send him back to official story content, which he found disappointing for compelling reasons.  Read his follow-up article here.
