For those who haven’t been following Tribble, the Foundry is receiving a number of updates with Legacy of Romulus. These updates went live today, but of course the Foundry is going through its usual cycle of republishing. Here’s BranFlake’s official post:

Jolan tru Captains!

The team and I wanted to let you all know about some important information about the Foundry and the launch of Legacy of Romulus.

Currently, while we republish all missions made prior to launch, all access to the Foundry is off. This includes editing and playing. Once the republish process is complete, we will allow access to playing Foundry missions again. When we do, the ability to review missions will be temporarily disabled.

We hope to have editing, playing and reviewing back up very shortly, and will provide updates in this thread as they become available. Also, we will be delaying this week’s Spotlight on the Foundry until reviewing is back up.

Thanks again, and we’ll see you in-game!

Cheers,

Brandon =/\=

All pretty standard.

After the break, I’ll have the patch notes for Foundry with a few explanations of what exactly some of the additions are based on my Tribble testing.

We want you to make mission trailers. Plain and simple. We want you to make them and post them on this site. Trailers are cool and fun to watch, but “I don’t know how to use demorecord” is a consistent complaint that we hear. Then we say “There are tutorials you can watch”, but people are still intimidated by it. “There is sooo much to it. Where do I possibly begin?”

I’m here to tell you that it’s so easy, even an old coot like me can figure it out. Most of the features that scare the crap out of you, don’t even NEED to be used. I’m just going to tell you what I do.

A quick explanation of demorecord:

Ok, to begin, let me just point out that the demorecord function of Star Trek Online is not working quite as it was intended to work. Since it was developed it has suffered with subsequent upgrades to the game. It will no longer display custom NPCs. Any NPC one has made in the Foundry costume editor will not be visible upon playback. Nobody at Cryptic will repair it because they claim it was never meant to be used by the general public and the guy who programmed it is no longer an employee. That being said, I will attempt to get you started on the simplest way to use this mechanic.

Hello all, while it’s been out for a short while now, I would like to ask you to play my first KDF mission, Hero of the Empire! It’s KDF any level. Please let me know what you think in your review or post a comment here.

Teaser Text:

Every once in a while, a soldier of the Klingon Defense Force truly distinguishes themselves on the field of battle, making their honor and bravery known across the Empire, their deeds worthy of song.

You are being summoned to a less than ideal assignment by the Chancellor himself. Are you up to the task of becoming a true Hero of the Empire?

The following guide to Star Fleet is provided to those foundry developers looking for a consistent structure/background to their fleet operations:

CSFOINST 5400 –
Starfleet Operational Unit Organization Informational Instruction

1) Overview:
Given the current fleet operational commitments it is useful for new commanders to receive a quick overview of general fleet organization to the wing level, deployments, nomenclature, etc. It should be noted that this information is only as accurate as the last update of this instruction.

2) Glossary:

2a) Fleet – The top-level operational element, a Fleet is assigned a fixed geographical responsibility for security and administration. Currently there are approximately fifteen such Fleets. Historically, during the Dominion War period there were up to fifty fleets, this was due to “administrative creep” during the relatively long period of peace prior to that conflict. At the end of the Dominion War that system was transitioned to a more flexible organization that retained fewer “fixed” fleets that could be quickly augmented with the more mobile Strategic Task Forces.

The Fleet geographical areas are the operational reporting commands for ships that are on independent assignment in addition to any formally attached sub-units. Fleets are usually comprised of up to ten Task Forces that are identified by the fleet number and task force number combined (i.e. 1st Task Force of the 1st Fleet = Task Force 11; 2nd Task Force = Task Force 12, etc.) The “zero” Task Force is reserved for the “command” or “headquarters” Task Force, but in practice this command element often remains at Starbase and is only operational if the entire fleet is mobilized for an out of geographical area deployment. (It should be noted there is often a negative or sardonic connotation used in the fleet about ‘Task Force Zero’ in reference to Fleet HQ. continue reading…

By now we’ve all heard the news…the Romulan faction is coming in May! IDK about you, but one of the things I’m most excited about is playing the great foundry missions people make for the new Romulan faction. Unfortunately, when the faction launches, it will have virtually no foundry missions.

But did you know you dont have to wait until May to start working on your Romulan missions? Remember, you can import existing missions into new ones, and you can even change the faction of the new mission after you import it. That means you can start a Fed or KDF project now, then when the Romulan faction gets here you can create a new Romulan mission and import the existing mission into it.

The first few Romulan foundry missions are going to get the most attention, simply because of how few there will be. They may even have a greater chance of being chosen for a spotlight. So if you have a great idea for a Romulan foundry mission, now is your chance to get a head start!

See you in game…beneath the raptor’s wings!  >:-)

Mak'tar Prime

  • Mission Title:: The Mak’tar Induction
  • Author:: zensoji1
  • Project ID:: ST-HASQD2BM5
  • Allegience:: Federation
  • Level:: Any Level
  • Starting Location:: Kelvani Belt, Orellius Sector Block

The Mak’tar Induction mission is an introduction to the federation fleet “The Mak’Tar” It goes through a considerable amount of information on how the fleet operates, our sense of humour and background of the fleet, namely the fact that we are loosely based on the 1999 Star Trek and Sci-Fi parody – Galaxy Quest. Numerous references are made to this and a variety of in-jokes within the fleet that you grow to understand.

Considering the size of the mission, the sheer number of objects and the anmount of triggers involved, this mission is currently in a Beta stage of development so baring that in mind when writing reviews would be helpful. Any bugs found can be sent to zensoji@gmail.com or to @zensoji1 in-game.

  • Mission Title:: Mak’tar Missions: Episode I-I
  • Author:: zensoji1
  • Project ID:: ST-HJPJ6B6KJ
  • Allegience:: Federation
  • Level:: 35+
  • Starting Location:: Starfleet Acadamy – Southernmost Office Door

The Mak’tar Missions are a series of missions that build on the story foundation of The Mak’tar Induction mission. They expand on the already established fleet members and the custom locations you already visited.

Episode I of the the Mak’tar Missions is set in 3 parts. All three tell of a betrayal within the the NSEA and the Mak’tar, the effects it has, the final revelation of the Mak’tar to the rest of the quadrant and the resulting war.

In part I you are given your regular monthly fleet assignment by Admiral T’Pul – to assist in the maintenance of the Mak’tar’s Communications Satellite. What you discover is an informant and a plot that has been in motion for over half a decade.

You are ordered to give up command of your ship to a Ferengi captain in order to help complete
a delicate mission
for the Ferengi Alliance. Your orders come from the President, himself.

  • Mission Title:  Infected Ground Training
  • Author:  Body_Surfer
  • Project ID:  ST-HJ3MIXF4A
  • Allegience:  Fed
  • Level:  41+
  • Starting Location:  Weapons Vendor at Earth Space Dock

Author’s Description:    This mission is designed to give a player a good understanding of how to play Infected Groud (Manus) and earn the optional objective.

Overview:

A very well built tutorial for the Infected ground mission. It serves to educate the player preparing to start into the realm of one of the oldest and most popular STF (Special Task Force) missions available in the game. It enables the player to learn how to achieve the optional objectives and go into the mission with the knowledge needed to work successfully with a team and accomplish the goals required to complete the mission.

Format:

This scenario utilizes the correct maps for the Infected mission. It correctly leads you through the chambers explaining each step along the way and prepares you for the next step as you advance. A perfectly formatted tutorial for the Infected Ground scenario.

Locations:

The maps in this story are precise for the mission. They are not overly designed to cloud the tutorial, but perfectly executed to lead you through the training.

Summary:

This is indeed the best tutorial I have played in the list of Foundry missions. It takes the time to explain each step without a large amount of reading. For anyone beginning to play the Infected Ground STF mission, this is a must play. It will make a player well prepared to complete the mission and enjoy the optional objectives. A definite must to avoid going into the scenario blindly, as it can be difficult if not executed properly. An absolute complete package for the training on the Infected Ground STF.

My Rating:   5 Stars
