Hi all,
this week, I’ll revisit the Fleet Advancement System, the Nukara Ground Invasion, and the C-Store EV Suits.

Regards,
Rachel

In this thread, Zero gave us this update:

We are re-enabling PLAYING of Foundry missions now.

The editor will remain disabled. During this time, reviewing of Foundry missions will also be disabled.

I’ll be creating a thread in the Foundry bug forums for authors (and other players) to post any bugs they see that weren’t present before Season 6.

Thank you all for your assistance and your patience.

EDIT:
The republishing of all the missions is still in progress, so Don’t Panic if you don’t see one of yours there.

while rehpic added:

Note that the republish we started last night is only done with about 60% of previously published projects. If your project is missing do not panic, it is most likely just not been republished yet. We estimate that the republish should be done with all projects in about 10 to 12 hours.

So the recording I was making was a bit … garbled. So we’re using the Trek Radio recording for this week’s show! And … there’s … not much going on. But we hope you enjoy it anyway!

In this thread, we received some new updates from rehpic:

We found several bugs in the code that specifically handles automated re-publishing of already published projects after a software update. We did import many projects from holodeck into various test environments before launching season 6, but those all used the normal publishing code path, which is the same as when a Foundry author hits the “Publish” button, but somewhat different from the automated re-publish.

We have fixes for those bugs that are currently in QA, and we will get them live as soon as we can. At that point we will re-publish all projects again and then re-evaluate whether it is safe to turn playing of Foundry content back on. When we re-enable playing of Foundry content, the ability for players to post reviews will be disabled. We will turn reviewing back on once we are confident that authors won’t be saddled with bad reviews due to Foundry bugs.

Once we are confident that all major re-publishing issues have been dealt with, we will re-enable Foundry editing.

Rehpic added:

We did do a mass republish test on all of the holodeck projects, but due to the way that project data is split between the shard’s database and the patch system, that process did its internal validation using slightly different code than the actual republish on holodeck. It is a major priority going forward to make the automated tests identical to the real republish that will happen on holodeck so that these surprises don’t recur.

Hi all,

back from vacation, and heck there’s a lot to talk about. Check out episode 5 of “Captain’s Log”:

In this episode Bazag and Galactrix play through “Conjoined” by DenizenVI, which was one of the weekly Foundry mission spotlights earlier this year.

Star Trek Las Vegas is just around the corner and I am extremely excited about being able

to attend. I have also teamed up with Havraha  in representing StarbaseUGC while we are

there. Thanks to TrekRadio, we have secured a place in the vendor’s room where thousands

of fans pass through each day of the con. In the hopes of attracting new people to STO and

the Foundry, specifically, I have begun making a small presentation about what the Foundry

is, and who we are, as a community. Here’s the intro for that presentation.

On the STO forums, rehpic gave us this update on the Foundry:

We found a few minor issues when we did the mass republishing after the season 6 patch. We have fixes in testing now and hope to have them live on holodeck by the end of the week. At that point we will open the foundry for play first and then editing assuming no more issues pop up.

When asks of more details, he added:

just a couple of code bugs that are causing good projects to fail republishing when they should be succeeding.

Please know that the team is working very hard to get the Foundry back up, but want to make sure that everything is in working order before we do.

Welp, we have confirmation now that today is indeed the day that the update to Season 6 is going to the live server.  This means that we will have changes aplenty to the Foundry editor….once it is turned back on mind you. First I will direct your attention to this article, detailing the state of things once we get the game back up and unlocked.

Anyone wanting to participate in the fleet portion of Season 6 and that doesnt have a fleet, we at StarbaseUGC have created a fleet just for you! you can find information regarding this here.

As Thursday descends upon us, possibly the Thursday of truth, we here at Podcast UGC speculate on some of the changes that will be forced on Foundry authors, including changes that will be needed for missions and manual republishing, as well as going over our frustrations with what features we would have still rather seen implemented into the Foundry.

We also go into the Tholians, what we played of them on Tribble, and more specifically how they just don’t give a shit about anything! Along with Fleet Starships and what we think, and finally … Bob gets me and Terry to begrudgingly tackle the remorse problem with lockboxes/Lobi Stores and ways to fix them. Check it out!

  •  Mission Title:  What if ?
  • Author:  Cerberusfilms
  • Project ID:  ST-HNU4L5NDZ
  • Allegiance: Federation
  • Level:  Level +31
  • Starting Location:   Hathon on Bajor, Beta Ursae Sector

Author’s Description:

  • What if Garaks bomb didn’t go off?
  • What if the Romulans discovered Sisko’s deception?
  • What if the Federation didn’t win the war?

A Variety Pseudo-Time travel mission, with British Grammar and spelling. (and Humour)

Overview:

A very clever and enjoyable mission by the ever-talented Cerberusfilms. He brings many things into play that could have been the result of events occurring differently in and around Deep Space Nine through the use of alternate timeline.  Not only does it change a few random things around DS9, but it also envelops the entire quadrant and beyond. The mission title is perfect as you experience situations that might have been if history had recorded things differently. A well written and very interesting story.

Format:

This scenario utilizes the Foundry and its benefits very well. It is not a typical linear story and it gives you options in a good deal of cases to stray from the ordinary. Cerberusfilms has looked at the DS9 story and the Cardassian war and has given it an entire new look and placed the player under different rules than we are accustomed to in the Star Trek Universe. There is technology, humor, corruption, and conflict to experience when you play this mission. A most enjoyable journey.

Locations:

The map builds in this story are very impressive. As an author who likes to go the extra mile in creating unique environments myself, I was very, very impressed with the visuals created in this mission. Foundry authors have continued to search for new ways to create locations that are memorable with the limitations we have in the toolset. Cerberusfilms has discovered new ways to display visuals to give the mission a unique signature all his own and create extremely well built sets.

Summary:

Cerberusfilms has proven once again his abilities are most impressive. He is an extremely imaginative young man and I envy his skills in not just mission creation, but his awesome abilities in the multimedia world. For Star Trek lovers, it is always enjoyable to see what might have been if something had gone differently in the history of the Federation and the Trek universe. Cerberusfilms has given us a glimpse into one possibility of that scenario with his mission. I encourage you to try it and find out “What if ?”

My Rating:  5 Stars

With every one attacking the tholians on Nukara, this time to take a look at new missions on holodeck.

Ladies, Gentlemen and Invited Transgendered species,

Since Season 6 will be introducing Fleet Bases, we thought it was time to finally give StarbaseUGC… an Actual Starbase!

So without furtherado, I present ‘SBUGC’ , the Fleet.

People have wondered in the past why we’ve never had one, but until fleetbases and their eventual foundry customisation, we thought it was finally time.

If you’d like to join (even if it’s just dropping an alt in the fleet), send an ingame mail or PM to @Castmodean, @Cerberusfilms or @CaptPFDennis (or anyone else you see in the fleet) and they’ll be happy to hook you up.

Please help us with upgrading the fleetbase with any resources you can spare, we understand that most of you are already part of other fleets but we hope you’ll be able to help take this already amazing community and make it even better (as Alt would put it, by giving us “Sweet, Sweet Lootz”)

Thanks

  • Title:   ABI-Artificial Borg Intelligence
  • By:   Duke-of-Rock
  • Allegience:   Federation
  • Level:   16+
  • Language:   English
  • Starting Location:   Andoria System – Sirius Sector Block

Overview:  The Borg, the Federations’ most lethal enemy, has attempted to assimilate humanity several times and failed. When will their next attempt come, and in what form?
Meet with a Federation officer recently repatriated and freed from the collective to hear her troubling report that the Borg are again attempting to devise a plan to assimilate Earth. Can you find the answer and stop them in time?
We shall soon see!

This mission has been adapted to allow lower level players the ability to enjoy a mission involving Borg.  It includes a Prime Number Puzzle . If you are prepared for it, you can adapt to it quickly. As with my previous missions, this is a story based creation. It is important to read the text to understand my intention and attempt to adapt unusual and uncommon elements into the Star Trek Galaxy. It includes both Space and Ground combat. Some may be challenging.

Good Luck. I hope you enjoy the story.

The Bitesize Boys review a lengthy and challenging mission for the Fed side called Finding Resolution by ajstoner.

In the latest “Ask Cryptic,” Dstahl fielded an important question about the Foundry and potential rewards for playing spotlighted missions.  Here is the info:

Q: (th3gr4ndnagu5) You mentioned that Foundry Spotlight missions will be getting official rewards. Will these missions also get full Skillpoint rewards as well?

Dstahl: The rewards that will be offered will be done via a secondary mission, which Cryptic controls, rewarding players upon successful completion of a specific Foundry mission. The reward will be similar to the types of rewards that you receive from Episodes in that they will potentially grant numerics as well as items appropriately scaled to the Foundry mission.

Mission Title: Vulcan Love Slave #9

Faction: Federation, Any LVL

Description:  The death of a Starfleet Admiral at Prell’s Gentlemen’s Club requires an investigation.  What you discover may have far-reaching consequences for Federation law and the rights of many artificial life forms.

Author’s notes:  I made this mission a few months back, but I haven’t advertised it much.  I’m proud of it, so it’s sad that it’s one of my least played missions.  It was also an ambitious attempt to resolve lingering and unanswered cliff-hangers of Cryptic’s official “path to 2409.”  Because I’m now convinced that certain parts of the path will never be addressed or completed, I decided to do so myself.

I hope that you enjoy it.  Please leave feedback.  Thanks!
