So we decided at the last minute that maybe a podcast wasn’t the best thing to do this week.

Most of the Cryptic devs took a good portion of last week off, and most of US were doing everything but playing STO last week, so there wasn’t a whole ton to talk about. In fact, we didn’t even have a chance to play any missions. It would have been a fairly dissappointing episode, so we decided to save anything we had going for it at all for next week for a bit more packed episode.

In other news, my Yeti is a bit … airy sounding in my room. I guess I didn’t realize that a professional level mic would require a professional level recording environment, which I definitely don’t have. I have a rather loud PC fan (which I didn’t chose, it was installed by the computer guys when my last one died), and I feel like you can totally hear a slight hum when we’re using the Yeti in recording tests, and I’m not sure what to do about it. In other words, I may just go back to my headset and save the Yeti for other purposes. I’d hate to do that though. Maybe a new computer fan will fix the problem?

It’s confirmed that we have 2 Holiday missions and 1 Jem Hadar mission in the running for our contest! You guys better get cracking if you want those rewards!

Hi there Everyone,

I’m hopefully going to be streaming the creation of a new mission live over a 24-48 hour time period (not constantly, there will of course be breaks).

From the 23rd of December 2010 to 16 of January 2011,  the State of Queensland, Australia saw some of the worst flooding in its history. 60% of the state was flooded from this Natural Disaster.

This Foundry mission was based on some of the events that happened, but with Starfleet playing the role of the Australian Defence Force.

For a better understanding of what happened during that time, I have linked a Youtube 7 part series on the floods.

The foundry was taken down during the push of Seaosn 5 to Holodeck in the hopes that it would help prevent some of the issues that resulted in the Foundry debacle that was Season 4. For the most part everything seems intact with a few missions being unable to be republished due to costumes being changed. I have heard of one mission being bugged and had to be withdrawn but otherwise everything seems to be fine.

As a result Cryptic have re-opened access to the foundry so now we can once again play in our sandbox again.

With session 5 up and running on holo, all we can say is thanks to the devs who work on it night and day. On too what we are here for, foundry missions.

Yes, that’s right after some curious happenings it seems Daniel Stahl, more commonly known as dStahl, is working back at Cryptic after a short dalliance with Zynga. The news was broken by dStahl himself after some people discovered some unusual happenings.

dStahl will not be returning to his Executive Producer role for STO but will instead be taking a position as Senior Producer managing The Foundry. This I believe is great news for us as Foundry Authors not only to have Dan back but as a show from Cryptic/PWE that they do take the Foundry seriously.

I only got a couple of one-stars for broken tech during the Season 4 launch.  But that was enough to convince me to withdraw my Overture missions until this blows over.

Ok, so we rant a bit. And we rant a little bit more. But on the eve of imminent Tribble to Holodeck push, neither Nem nor Terry nor I actually feel so happy with a lot of the things we’re seeing in Star Trek Online. And in Foundry news … A CUTSCENE EDITOR!? Ah, but wait, there’s a catch! And all three of us weigh in our final thoughts on the final, new ESD Signs. You know. The ones that lack holograms. Yeah, those.

Additionally, both Terry and I celebrate the release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword with a 10:30 second long track from the CD included with the game! In fact, the entire mp3 is being rendered in CD quality (versus the usual FM radio quality) to accommodate this amazing audio experience we’ve included where the half time break usually is, so do cherish the enhanced fidelity and forgive the massive file size!
