Hi all,
I can’t thank everyone enough for the kind words and all of the emails, as the site goes through some changes. I’m sorry that I haven’t been able to respond to many of the inquiries from other sites, but a big thank you goes out to the entire STO community. Everyone from Stoked to Holosuite Magazine offered to assist with the administration and maintenance of Starbase UGC. The entire community came together to ensure that this community would outlive my departure.
In the end, I’ve decided that the best thing to do is to hand off the admin duties to the podcast crews, who can serve as a type of council (yes, a council!). Here is a brainstorm of the various duties that each person could have, if they choose to participate.
Terilynn – Chief Editor/Contest Organizer. Teri would approve/deny new posts to the blog, as well as fix ones with heavy spelling mistakes. She would also be the main organizer of contests, site promotions, etc.
Havraha – Website maintenance/design. Hav would be the guy of tech stuff, especially maintenance of the spotlight widget, the banner advertisements, and the general look of the site.
Altexist – Treasurer. Alt would be in control of the paypal account, as well as google adsense and any aspects of the site’s monetization.
Broadcast UGC crew – (make up your own titles). The crew would check the email every other day and follow up on requests made by subscribers who want to become contributors. They would also be responsible for changing users from “contributors” to “writers,” which gives them more options to instantly post here.
NemesisChicken – continues as our Trek radio outreach. Castmodean would continue doing all that he does with chat, twitter, and facebook.
I know that the list seems hierarchical, but it’s not my intention to create a hierarchy. It is more of a reflection of a list of priorities, and who I think is a good fit for those tasks. I hope that all decisions about the site are made in a democratic fashion, where all voices, including the really awesome folks who aren’t on the podcasts are heard.
If anyone listed above doesn’t wish to be on the site’s admin team, please speak up. Or, if anyone wants to swap responsibilities, etc.
Essentially, nothing else really changes.
Does this seem like a good system?
Thanks!
