Forum member maquis pointed out to me that StoDemoLauncher was having trouble with Foundry missions (thanks for that). You would have to click away one error message per Foundry mission demo on each refresh.

It’s fixed. Additionally, I’ve added a new filter, that should allow you to get rid of the bottom screen error messages for smoother renderings.

Happy Foundry trailer making everyone.

Regards,
Rachel

P.S.: On a completely different matter: If you have an hour to spare, come over here.

A lot of cool things were released via Twitter for STO in general, but it seems when it comes to the Foundry … a lot of us are still pretty left in the dark. Week in, week out, there’s no new Foundry news, bugs continue after weeks on end, and it seems like the once talkative devs have clammed up entirely (even our QA friends). What gives? Why are these things happening? We discuss it.

We also make fun of Altexist behind his back, and reassure the world that no matter what happens on Twitter, Havraha and Terilynn will always love each other. Hav will always be right, too, but that’s neither here nor there. What happened on Twitter, you ask? Well you would know if you followed us on it! We’re @Havraha, @Altexist, @TerilynnS, and @NemesisChiken !

We also review CerberusFilms’ incredibly tech heavy second part to a mission, and lament about the Foundry’s inability to understand what the hell is going on when one uses walls and floors.

Also, EPIC mailbag, and a particularly epic email from epic Foundry Author OldLordSkull. Thanks to everyone who sent mail in! Especially to everyone who sided with ME in the Klingon argument because Terry and Gettysburg have been beating me over the head with how wrong I was on that for like the past week. Ugh.

Oh, also, this.

They know something you don't know...

Hi all,

I’m suspending the Summer of Love contest for the time being.  Until the toolset is in a stable and reliable working order, these contests will be unworkable and unfair to those who have to spend so much time repairing their missions.

When I feel that the tool is usable and consistently free of mission-killing bugs from weekly patches, then the contest will resume with a month-long deadline.

Sorry everyone.  Maybe we’ll beef up the prizes by combining what was going to be a winter contest.  Regardless, the Foundry is too unstable, unreliable, and full of weekly bug updates that this contest has been impossible to have.

Looks like we’ve got some confirmation from Zero.  If your mission has a trigger that uses “component complete,” then republishing will break your mission most likely.  The component to be completed will not flash and the trigger will not work.

If your “component complete” triggers are working right now, it’s probably because the mission was published before the bug got into the Foundry.

Here is Zero’s comment:

Q:  If I republish my mission, will the component completes stop working?

A: My guess is that yes, it will. Your published version isn’t affected because they worked when that version was created, whereas a newly published version would be putting out whatever you currently see in the editor, which has the bug referenced here.

It’s possible that I’m wrong, but I’d hate to guess otherwise right now.

OMFG Daniel Stahl is leaving Cryptic Studios ABANDON SHIP ABANDON SHIP! … or should we? We talk about that tonight, as well as Steven D’Angelo! We also talk about continuing bugs with the Foundry, WHY there’s still so many bugs, and how we were forced to port our missons over the weekend with a broken Foundry. Oy.

Additionally we review some missions from Bazag, and Hav and Terry argue about Klingons during the middle of it! Give us your feedback on this argument!

Hi everyone,

Make sure to check out the new episode of Stoked, which has an exclusive intereview with Dan Stahl.  There isn’t much Foundry stuff in the interview, but Jeremy did press Dstahl on why the STO team doesn’t do more to update the assets.  Stahl’s answer is around 42:42.  Basically, they don’t have the staff or the time right now.  He did say that new “doors” could be on the horizon and maybe some content from upcoming feature episodes.

This week’s episode of Stoked contains a new edition of Foundry Files, in which the hosts review “True Profit.”  Also, be sure to check out the previous edition of Foundry Files, which reviewed Havraha’s “Time the Enemy.”

Hi all. This is a quick reminder that Podcast UGC broadcasts LIVE tonight at 8:00 pm CDT! (That’s 9 pm EDT, 7 pm MDT, and 6 pm PDT)

Tune in HERE. Or, tune in at TrekRadio

A Relic’s Return (Conclusion) by Armsman

Bishop’s Crook by Pi-30rionis

Now if you have a new mission for us this week please what us know by leaving a comment below or by going to the STO forums and leave it in the post called promote your foundry mission, it’s there for a reason.  Now remember that a review help the author in the long run. http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=218902

A quick tour of the Star Trek Online ‘TOS’ Interior, that I really think should be put in the Foundry!

Published (and I did a post publish playtest to make sure it worked afterwards) this last Wednesday, 9/14/11:

Foundry Mission Name: “A Relic’s Return (Conclusion)”
Author: Armsman
Project ID: ST-HG5XD7S6B
Faction: Star Fleet
Staring Location: Regulus Sector Block – Veela System
Level/Rank: ANY

Mission Description:
Now that you and your crew have discovered a possible location of the Kintaran relic; you need to determine if an Orion Syndicate base is in that star system, and conduct negotiations for the relic’s return to the Kintarans.

Author Comments:
———————-
This concludes the story started in my first mission “A Relic’s Return” (which made the Grand Nagus’ Mission list) ; and it really does have quite a TOS hook to it that I hope players will like, and again, if you really want to experience the full story, and you haven’t done so yet – play “A Relic’s Return” before you play this one.

It may still need some playthroughs to get it from Review status and out on to the “Content” Tab; so if you don’t see it, consider becoming a Reviewer in STO and look for it on the “Review Content” Tab.

(Link to Feedback thread on the STO Forums)

That looks... expendable.

Hi all,

quick heads-up: I’ve updated StoDemoLauncher to work with the new test server Redshirt. So if you want to do your Machinima on the test shard rather than on the public server, you are good to go (at least until the next wipe).

New shortcuts:

  • Open Redshirt demo directory Ctrl+F11
  • Open Redshirt schreenshots directory Ctrl+F12

Rachel

Greetings everyone,

I have pushed to get my Fleet foundry event going again so hopefully we can renew the excitement a bit. I have included the mission list that I just posted, so if you see something I missed, please let me know and I can add it to another mail for the Fleet. I also have instructions on what to do if there is a bug in the mission, so you will not get downrated from my fleet members should it occur. If they do experience anything, they have been instructed to PM or mail me with the bug so I can report it back to you as the authors.  I’m hoping to re-ignite the excitement from before as we have a good deal more new mwmbers in the Fleet. If you want a mission added to our list, please add it to this post so I can add it. Hoping Cryptic will get us back up full force soon. Happy Authoring folks.      Duke-of-Rock

Greetings SSOG,
Now that the Foundry is “somewhat” functional again, it’s time to revive the mission play event. There are a lot of great prizes to be had so I hope you will participate. There still are some intermittent bugs you may experience in missions, so if you do, please mail me so I can alert the authors. It is a foundry issue and not the creators fault, so please don’t downrate them for it. Following is the mission list.   continue reading…
