The Foundry got turned on in the latest Tribble patch that went up tonight(June 28th). Problem is, there is a major showstopper glitch with the map tab. Clicking it seems to cause crash to desktop to occur for most people. It may already be disabled by the time you read this, but a number of other improvements got turned on as well so you can look at them, as long as it isn’t a map :)

**Edit: As of this morning (June 29th) Foundry access is turned back off again. But thanks to Filbones, you can see some of the changes.

Hi all.  Just published this mission on Holodeck.  It’s been on Tribble for a while, but I haven’t had as much time as I’d like for working with the Foundry lately, and I wanted to make sure the “real” version used the new tools in the best ways possible.  For helping with that, a definite thanks to Kirkfat and his trigger tutorials.  Also thanks to Filbones for the visual aid.

Heres’s the the basic info on the mission:

ST-HPQDIOAKY
Level 16+
Allegiance = Starfleet
Location = Hana System, Regulus SB

At the edge of explored space, a Ferengi trader has uncovered the advanced technologies of a dead civilization. Starfleet needs you to check his claims and ensure his discoveries don’t fall into the wrong hands. But, from the moment you arrive, nothing is as it seems. In solving the mysteries that will confront you, be prepared to sacrifice yourself for the safety of your ship and crew, and the survival of the Federation.

Of course, any feedback or suggestions are welcome.

It’s time to put a spotlight on the authors who have created and published their missions this week:

Mirror Greek Gods Prelude by Commander Jack

Bajoran Incident by Ravenuince

Further into Project Ysilon by Iron_Lord

DS9- A mystery by Lokiie1984

Setsunasa 1-3 by Gath88

Starbase 32 by paul0222

A Sharp Request by SGRvirus

Kleenex by 1Up_Grayed

Great raid (part 1) by cmdraftbrn

Spies, Spoonheads And Saboteur by kyle21davidson

Descent into Madness Part II by FutureCaptain

Now, feel free to post a comment below to tell me and others about your new mission for the lovely folks at Starbase UGC or post it in the forum post called promote your foundry mission in the Star Trek Online forum. (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=218902)

Greetings Friends and fellow authors,

Over the past year I have been writing a science fiction mini-novel about the species of my main STO character. Guitaric Desmis Rockairee is from the planet Vistarax in the Delta Quadrant. His people have long been in conflict with the Borg, as is the case with most species in the quadrant. The story offers a fictional account of one possibility of the Borg and their rise to the threat they are today. The story begins in the Earth year 1885. I am posting a few of the chapters for review. The final chapter of Volume 1 is almost complete. It suffered a little neglect with my new found love of the Foundry. I would like to perhaps one day create a Foundry related series with ties to this story. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. continue reading…

Hello all. I’m looking at starting a new show on cerberusfilm’s live stream channel (aka FoundryTV).

I’m looking for some co-hosts to come and join me on the show. We will be playing through one or two foundry missions each episode live (I’ll handle the technical stuff). What I’m looking for are people to come and join me in this undertaking. The aim is to have a fun time playing foundry missions with others while providing live commentary and feedback on the mission we are playing also promoting some good foundry missions we’ve come across.

Requirements: There is only one real requirement access to Skype.

If you are interested in joining me please email me at bazag@hotmail.com, in game mail/chat @Bazag or via the StarbaseUGC IRC channel. We’ll get together sometime and do a dry run of a couple of missions and see how we go.

Thank you.

A quick tour of the Earth Spacedock area in Star Trek Online-available for player use in the Foundry.

If you’ve read some of the books by Star Trek personalities, such as actors like Nimoy or behind-the-scenes experts like Justman and Solow, then you’ve probably come across statements about the “newness” of Star Trek when it premiered in the 1960s.  It is often claimed that nothing else like it was aired to millions of Americans prior to 1966.

While a case can be made for the “newness”of Star Trek, it would be a mistake to label its predecessors as worthless “kid’s stuff” or “merely” anthology series.  From the birth of mass media, there has been a place for science fiction.  Television has been no exception.

After the take off of cerberusfilms livestream channel and with it becoming so much more than the showcase of Foundry Mission Trailers. Especially with the Reunion machinima project the GandT show and more comming down the line I thought it would be good to have a livestream channel fully and exclusively dedicated to Foundry Mission Trailers.

I have added as many trailers as I could via youtube and other searches. IF you wish to have your trailer removed or added then by default I will add all trailers posted on the SBUGC Blog from now on or if I’ve missed one that you want to add then please comment here. This is not to take away from Foundry TV or STOTV but as a supplement to it.

The Foundry Trailer’s livestream channel is accessible via www.livestream.com/foundrytrailers

Thank you.

Hey guys and gals,

I want to create and maintain a “yellow pages” of sorts that lists all of the great people/sites/fleets/producers who are willing to make mission trailers for other Foundry authors.

Please respond to this post with contact details, site info, terms, conditions, availability, etc. etc.

Thanks!

Here I was, thinking I was all awesome by switching us to Teamspeak 3 to avoid distortion, and what do I get for my trouble? My moment of brilliance? My genius contribution to the podcast? Not only is “my” levels super soft, but we have horrifying distortion towards the end of the podcast to the point where we had to abandon Teamspeak all together and return to Skype for the last 18 minutes of the show.

We’ll return to Skype next week guys. I apologize. Apparently, the hour of testing we did yesterday wasn’t long enough to forsee these kinds of problems.

I’ll be straight up honest with you guys. The Podcast’s quality this week sucks. Absolutely, positively, sucks. Sorry. If I said anything to the contrary, that would be shale. SHAAALLLEE! I TRY TO MAKE YOU FORGET YOUR PATH!

This episode has very little to do with the Foundry this week. There just wasn’t any news in that area, so we spent most of the show talking about STO in General News. Including, ThomasTheCat’s new ship design drawing! That’s right, he joins us again for random topics! Wee!

A story about the consequences of life and death decisions. The immediate impacts but also the long term impacts. Re-live events during the Cardassian occupation of Bajor and and the understand the real cost of living.

STOMedia are opening up their livestream to all members of the Star Trek Online community. We will be accepting trailers, tutorials, machinima and podcasts in video form to be used as content on our livestream. Unlike the Foundry TV channel, this Livestream isn’t just about UGC. There will be a schedule for the channel, so you can tune in when you want…and best of all submission and viewing are aboulutely free! You can submit your videos here

A quick tour of Star Trek Online’s new Qo’nos area-which should hopefully be available in the Foundry for player use!

Are you ready for your weekly dose of foundry? This week I think that everyone is holding off on publishing their mission or playing session 4 on tribble. But some authors have published their missions and here they are:

Training Scenario Alpha by Hendy22

Against all odds part 2 by Drkrussian

Suspicious Order Part 1 by DSQCaptainPicard

Further into Project Ypsilon by Iron_Lord

The Return to Terra Nova by Kirkfat

Spawn of Medusa III by Duke-of-Rock

The Wounded Wolf by Akrilon

More Than you Bargained For and As old as Dirt by ValNicky

Mirror’s edge by NX-89

I know this sounds like a broken recorded but i have set up a forum post that is also then to help new and old authors to promote their missions. It also is there so you do not have to wait until Monday for my report, just head on over and post. (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=218902)

Until next time, enjoy the authors ideas.

Hi all,

Due to recent controversies, there are new rules added to the posting guidelines:

Don’t Post Malicious Content: Do not post links or information about 3rd party software or other “hacks” that Cryptic views as dangerous or detrimental to the game or players, please. Malicious content also includes clear and outrageous infringements on copyrights, unethical uses of edits or credits, and the advocacy of other unethical machinima/Foundry practices.

—-

We are not lawyers or copyright/fair use specialists, and we won’t pretend to be.  But, if your video, mission, or machinima project causes massive headaches for the site, it will be removed.

Our basic philosophy is that it is up to youtube to do its job. Youtube is getting better with audioswaps, etc., and we’re not going to investigate whether the music in your trailers is public domain.  But, if there are cases when the community cries “foul” over a specific video, then we will consider whether any of these rules apply.

Until there is a clearer statement from Cryptic, these are the rules we’ll try to follow when videos/missions are “flagged” by the community as inappropriate.

Thanks!

Title: The Return to Terra Nova – A Diplomacy Mission

  • Project ID:  ST-HDGWMWRKK
  • Level: Any
  • Location: Earth Space Dock, lower level
  • Faction: Federation
  • Type: Diplomacy

You are ordered to make contact with the 25th-century inhabitants of Terra Nova, a planet once visited by Capt. Jonathan Archer’s NX-01.  Discover what remains of Earth’s first colony on another world.

Note: This is a purely diplomatic mission with no combat and many walls-o-text.

User Reviews:

Krasynkot: Really nice, treklike mission.  That’s what I hoped for by playing STO.

Sir_Mars: Wooow, this was good.

KineticImpulser: Very good mission. Excellent story, well told.  I’m a sucker for plots drawn from canon sources.

BlueKnightOne: Well done in making Star Trek Online feel a little more Trek-ish.

Bazag: A great diplomatic touch stone mission with far reaching consequences.  Good Job.

Hello all! Have you missed Animations With Helna videos? How about Helna in general? Well, I made a Foundry mission! It’s kinda fun.

This particular mission, much like the videos, is made to showcase a few of the crazy animations available within the Foundry via the model of Helna. However, there’s an in depth story that’s quite fun as well. What’s the secret experiment that Starfleet is conducting? It’s your job to figure it out, while learning more about Helna, and being treated to some awesome animations!

I hope people like it. :-)
